The new Renault Duster is finally revealed in India. Positioned as a direct Creta rival, its key details are now out. I’d advise you to check it out, especially with pre-bookings starting at just Rs 21,000.

A good move by Renault to kick off pre-bookings at just Rs21,000; in my experience, that’s a smart way to gauge real interest for a big launch. For your Rs21,000, you secure priority delivery, special introductory pricing, and some fun exclusive ‘Gang of Duster’ merchandise. This India-spec new-gen Duster they’ve just unveiled is a proper SUV that debuts with a fresh design, a completely revamped interior, and a set of new powertrain options. From what I’ve seen in India, these benefits and the core options should make for a compelling package.

Powertrain and Engine Options for the New Duster

The India-spec Renault Duster makes a strong debut with multiple powertrain choices. The lineup includes a potent 1.3-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol (Turbo TCe 160) producing 160 bhp and 280 Nm, offered with both six-speed manual and DCT gearboxes. Additionally, there’s an entry 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol (TCe 100) that generates 100bhp and 160Nm, available solely with a six-speed manual. Another 1.3-litre turbo-petrol variant produces 163 hp and 280 Nm. Topping the range is the hybrid 1.8-litre, four-cylinder direct-injection petrol engine (E-Tech 160) paired with two electric motors, delivering 160 bhp and 172 Nm.

    Exterior Styling and Design Walkaround

Looking at it from the side, you immediately see the rugged character with black cladding that covers the wheel arches and lower body, a classic SUV cue that’s both tough and practical. Moving around, the rear has some clever design choices; the rear door handles are integrated into the C-pillar for a cleaner look, and those connected LED taillights are an exclusive touch for the India-spec model.

Up at the front, it sports redesigned headlights with modern eyebrow-style LED DRLs that double as turn indicators, sitting above a unique grille proudly bearing the Duster badge. The bumper gets a silver surround that’s reminiscent of the beloved first-gen version, a nice nostalgic touch, and is highlighted by Pixel-shaped fog lamps that flank it, adding real character.

While it retains the familiar silhouette of the global third-gen model, these distinct tweaks are clearly aimed at local appeal. Functional black roof rails add utility, and at the back, the lights are paired with a roof-mounted spoiler and a rear wiper and washer. A final silver insert on the black bumper breaks up the otherwise simple rear design, giving the SUV a more striking finish.

The Cabin: Tech, Comfort, and Safety

Step inside the new Renault Duster, and it’s clear the interior is genuinely packed. The dashboard immediately impresses with a modern dual-screen setup—a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster running Google OS. You grip a fresh three-spoke steering wheel with Piano Black accents, and the attention to detail extends to faux carbon-fibre detailing and pleasant ambient lighting.

For charging, there are modern Type-C ports. Comfort and convenience are major themes here, with dual-zone climate control, supremely comfortable 6-way powered and ventilated front seats, an adjustable front armrest, and dual-tone upholstery. The rear offers practical 60:40 split rear seats, and a powered tailgate adds ease.

Features like a wireless charger, a panoramic sunroof, and an Arkamys audio system round out the experience. On the advanced tech and safety front, it’s seriously equipped with a super helpful 360-degree camera, six airbags, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, and most importantly, Level 2 ADAS. From my perspective, this feature set moves it squarely into the premium conversation.

    Booking, Pricing, and Delivery Timeline

For prospective buyers ready to commit, you can pre-book the new Renault Duster right now by paying Rs 21,000. The final prices for this new Duster will be officially announced by the brand in mid March 2026. Based on the timeline shared, the delivery schedule is split: if you opt for the turbo trims, delivery will commence from mid March itself. However, if you’re waiting for the more advanced hybrid variants, be prepared for a longer wait, as those deliveries are scheduled to begin around Diwali 2026.
