The Indian market is about to see a wave of upcoming seven-seater SUVs, and this space is getting more exciting than ever. This compiled list from various manufacturers like Mahindra, Volkswagen, Nissan, and others gives a glimpse of what family car buyers should watch closely.
The Indian market is preparing to welcome multiple new SUVs, and from what I’ve seen, the focus is clearly shifting toward bigger seven-seater SUVs rather than just sub-4m SUVs, as the number of launches continues to increase. These new models will give consumers more options, ranging from internal combustion engines to electric powertrains, with some being updated versions of existing models and others arriving as completely new entrants, making these details worth watching closely as the market evolves.

Volkswagen Tayron R-Line
Volkswagen Tayron R-Line a premium flagship SUV placed above the Tiguan R-Line SUV in the SUV segment, bringing a bold three-row presence backed by aggressive styling and the R-Line badge. To be launched as a CKD in the country, it is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, tuned to produce 204 hp of power and 320 Nm of peak torque, with output transferred through a seven-speed DCT to an AWD setup, a combination that clearly signals Volkswagen’s premium intent.

MG Majestor
MG Majestor is expected to replace the Gloster in the automaker’s lineup, and from my experience watching MG’s strategy, this feels like a serious upgrade for the brand. The SUV, first showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in 2025, is now set to launch in the country on February 12, with a model that comes packed with features and clear off-road capabilities, powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission that will produce 210 hp of power and 478 Nm of peak torque.

Nissan 7-Seater SUV
Nissan is set to launch the Tekton SUV in the Indian market alongside the Gravite MPV, and from my experience, this signals a wider push by the brand. After these, a new seven-seater SUV for the country will follow, based on the CMF-B platform of the automaker, with the vehicle expected to be launched by the end of the year as part of a clear strategy to strengthen its presence in the market.

Mahindra Scorpio-N Facelift
After its strong run since being launched in 2022, the Mahindra Scorpio N SUV has delivered solid sales numbers for the brand in the Indian market and is now clearly heading towards a facelift. From what I’ve seen on the road, the test mule of the model has been spied testing multiple times, and it is expected to arrive without prominent changes in design, while continuing to carry forward the same engine and transmission options from the current model.

Renault Boreal
Starting with the Boreal, my experience tracking upcoming launches suggests this seven-seater version will play a key role for Renault after the launch of the new-generation Duster in India, as it enters the Indian market as a larger SUV. Based on the same platform as Duster, it is likely to feature unique design elements while keeping the same powertrain, and is expected to come packed with features like Level 2 ADAS and a 360-degree camera, which should further help the brand establish a stronger hold in a new segment.
