VinFast plans a rapid expansion in India, aiming to grow its product line-up from two to five models in quick succession. This aggressive rollout could happen possibly in a little over a year after its market arrival.

From what we’ve seen of its strategy, VinFast made a bold entry into the India market with not one, but two initial models, the VF 6 and VF 7. The company clearly intends to continue this offensive on the product side in the near future. Their immediate plans include the launch of an electric MPV first, to be followed up with two additional new electric SUVs. This suggests they are moving quickly to establish a full portfolio rather than testing the waters slowly.

VinFast Limo Green: Specs, Size & India-Specific Strategy

Looking at VinFast’s roadmap, their next big move in India is the imminent launch of the Limo Green, a pure electric MPV. This model is already on sale in its home market of Vietnam. In terms of size, it’s a substantial vehicle measuring 4,740 mm long, 1,872 mm wide, and 1,729 mm tall, making it bigger than the BYD eMax 7 and closer in dimensions to the popular Toyota Innova Crysta. Its long 2,840 mm wheelbase allows it to comfortably accommodate seven people.

Under the hood, it uses a single motor producing 150 kW (201 bhp) and 280 Nm of torque that powers the front wheels. This motor is powered by a sizable 60.13 kWh LFP battery pack that supports charging up to 6.9 kW on AC and 80 kW on DC. This setup delivers a claimed range of 450 kilometres per the NEDC cycle. Interestingly, while it is currently offered only in a commercial version in Vietnam, for India the company will provide a new version targeted at individual customers, which should be equipped with more additional features for personal use.

The VinFast VF 5: Compact Electric SUV Specs & Rivals

Following the MPV, VinFast’s second major launch this year will be the compact VF 5. This small electric SUV is positioned to directly compete with popular models like the Tata Nexon.ev and the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV. Its dimensions are compact yet practical, measuring 3,957 mm long, 1,723 mm wide, and 1,579 mm tall, with a 2,514 mm wheelbase that should offer decent interior space for its segment.

Depending on the market, VinFast offers the VF 5 in two key powertrain configurations. Buyers can get either a setup with a 70 kW (94 bhp), 135 Nm front motor paired with a 29.6 kWh LFP battery pack, or a more powerful option with a 100 kW (134 bhp), 135 Nm front motor and a larger 37.23 kWh LFP battery pack. The former delivers a range of 268 kilometres, while the latter extends that to 326 kilometres—both figures quoted per the NEDC standard, which gives a good baseline for comparison.

Production Strategy & The Compact VF 3

It seems VinFast is adopting a smart, flexible production strategy for India. While the Limo Green MPV is likely to arrive as knocked-down kits from Vietnam, the VF 5 could be heavily localised. The most interesting third model is the VF 3, an SUV-styled microcar that is almost certain to be manufactured locally in India, which should help with competitive pricing.

This tiny VF 3 measures 3,190 mm in length, 1,679 mm in width, and 1,652 mm in height, with a 2,075 mm wheelbase. It’s a unique two-door model with seats for four people and will likely directly compete with the MG Comet EV. It features a rear-mounted motor that produces 30 kW (40 bhp) and 110 Nm of torque, powered by an 18.64 kWh LFP battery pack. According to the NEDC standard, it can travel up to 215 kilometres on a single charge, making it a potential city-focused EV.
