The Recall Details: What Owners Need to Know

A recent recall campaign by Honda in India specifically targets their premium motorcycles, the CBR650R and CB1000 Hornet SP. It’s important to note that the defect prompting this action involves a separate issue for each model. If you own one of the affected units, Honda is actively contacting owners via phone calls, SMS, and email to schedule inspections. You can also proactively verify if your motorcycle is a part of recall by entering your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on their official website.

The potential issue for the CBR650R is quite specific, concerning its turn signal assembly. In certain units, the wiring component inside could come into contact with a metal part. Over time, prolonged vibration from riding could eventually cause a short circuit. This fault would result in some lights failing to operate, a scenario that clearly does not comply with regulatory safety standards. The bikes that could be impacted are motorcycles manufactured between December 16 2024 and May 04 2025.

The CB1000 Hornet SP Recall: Addressing Oil Consumption

Look at the CB1000 Hornet SP side of the recall. This model has been recalled due to possible oil consumption issues. Honda has found that in some units, oil usage may vary due to specific part-related conditions. If riders do not regularly monitor their oil levels, the resulting fluctuations in oil pressure could affect the engine and its normal functioning. This recall applies to motorcycles produced between September 30 2024 and August 22 2025.

Importantly, Honda has assured customers that any necessary part replacements will be carried out free of charge at authorised BigWing dealerships, regardless of the motorcycle’s warranty status. This proactive measure truly underscores the company’s commitment to rider safety and product reliability, ensuring that both models continue to deliver the performance expected by enthusiasts. It’s a smart move focused on addressing potential risks before they escalate.
