Top Safety Ratings from Bharat NCAP

According to the official Bharat NCAP test results, both the VF 6 and VF 7 have impressively achieved 5-star ratings in the two core safety categories. Looking at the details, the VF 6 recorded 27.13/32 points in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and a strong 44.41/49 points in Child Occupant Protection (COP). Not to be outdone, the VinFast VF 7 achieved even higher figures with 28.54/32 points in AOP and 45.25/49 points in COP. These scores clearly reflect a high level of built-in protection for both adult and child occupants across both models.

This achievement follows the electric SUVs’ recent entry into the Indian market early this year. While VinFast had already talked about the long list of advanced safety equipment these SUVs bring to the table, they have now formally received complete 5-star safety certifications from India’s own Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP), validating their claims with authoritative data.

    Detailed Crash Test Performance

The in-depth crash test assessments for the two VinFast models continued to demonstrate exceptionally strong safety performance. In frontal impact tests, protection for the head & neck and upper leg protection scores for both the driver and passenger in the VF 6 and VF 7 reached the perfect 4.000 points, which is the maximum on the Bharat NCAP scale. Similarly, during side impact tests, both vehicles achieved full scores of 16.000/16.000 for adult occupants and 8.000/8.000 for child occupants.

Perhaps even more impressive was their performance in the more severe pole side impact test. Here, the head injury assessment values recorded for the VF 6 and VF 7 were 109 and 131, respectively. These figures are significantly lower than the Bharat NCAP critical threshold of 700. These results clearly indicate highly effective head protection for occupants, even in these high-risk crash scenarios, which is a true mark of a robust safety design.

    The Significance of Bharat NCAP

Bharat NCAP is the official vehicle safety assessment programme implemented by the Government of India, aligned with international practices like Global NCAP. This programme rigorously evaluates occupant protection through a range of crash tests and awards safety ratings from 3 to 5 stars. For the VF 6 and VF 7, Achieving the highest rating confirms they meet the rigorous safety standards currently applied in the Indian market, which is a crucial reassurance for new buyers.

This isn’t VinFast’s first safety accolade. Previously, other VinFast models have received positive recognition from regional safety assessment organizations, clearly reflecting the company’s consistent focus on safety. Notably, the larger VinFast VF 8 achieved a 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating and even surpassed more than 15 major automakers to secure 5 out of 6 safety awards from that organization in 2024, showcasing a proven track record.

    Official Statement and Vehicle Specifications

Assembled locally at VinFast’s manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, the VF 6 and VF 7 are premium electric SUVs specifically designed for customers with high expectations for safety, technology, and everyday practicality. In addition to their 5-star Bharat NCAP-rated EV-dedicated platform, both models are equipped with 7 airbags and a suite of variant-dependent smart ADAS features.

This includes Auto Lane Changing Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Emergency Lane Keeping Assist, Front and Rear Automatic Emergency Brake, and Blind Spot Detection, all aimed at enhancing collision avoidance capability and providing comprehensive driving support across diverse traffic conditions.

Reacting to the achievement, Mr. Tapan Ghosh, CEO of VinFast India, said the 5-star safety ratings awarded to the VF 6 and VF 7 by Bharat NCAP mark an important milestone. He emphasized that this underscoring of quality and high safety standards for VinFast’s electric vehicles in India—one of the world’s largest automotive markets—is critical.

This achievement validates VinFast’s engineering rigor, demonstrating that its EVs exceed stringent safety benchmarks. The company remains committed to continued investment in product improvement, delivering electric vehicles that are not only environmentally friendly and technologically advanced, but also provide customers with confidence and peace of mind throughout their journey toward electrified mobility.
