For the Indian luxury buyer, the BMW i7 offers a compelling electric proposition. It’s available in two distinct variants, providing choice in this premium segment. A key impressive figure is its WLTP-certified range of up to 603 km between charges, a number that helps alleviate range anxiety for long drives.
BMW has just crossed a significant landmark moment in India, delivering over 1,000 units of its flagship i7 electric sedan in the country since it was introduced. This achievement is cementing its position as the brand’s most successful high-end EV offering to date. From a design perspective, the BMW i7 gets bold proportions and unmistakably futuristic styling, which clearly differentiate it from conventional luxury sedans.
BMW i7 Design & Cabin: A Technological Sanctuary
Outside, the split headlamp design features slim daytime running lights at the top, a look that’s complemented by exquisite BMW Crystal Headlights crafted by Swarovski. This is matched by the illuminated Iconic Glow kidney grille, which dramatically up the sedan’s road presence, especially at night.
Stepping inside, the entire cabin is centred around the BMW Interaction Bar alongside a massive curved display packed with navigation, real-time traffic updates, and an augmented view. For rear occupants, seating comfort is a significant highlight, led by the 31-inch 8K BMW Theatre Screen with Amazon Fire TV – a true segment-first feature. The Executive Lounge Seating behind the front passenger reclines up to 42.5 degrees and is coupled with sumptuous Merino leather upholstery, massage functions, and seat ventilation.

Performance, Charging & Market Impact
Powering the BMW i7 eDrive50 is the advanced fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology, featuring a highly integrated electric drive unit. This setup delivers a potent 449 hp and 650 Nm of torque, which help the luxury sedan accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.5 seconds. For convenient home or office use, an 11 kW AC charger comes into play, while an optional 22 kW system can reduce charging time significantly. Adding to the ambience inside is the stunning Panorama Glass Roof Sky Lounge, featuring fully customisable LED lighting.
Speaking on this new milestone, Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO of BMW Group India, said, “The BMW i7 is not merely a luxury sedan – it is a bold declaration of Forwardism.” He mentioned that reaching the 1,000 unit milestone shows how well the product connects with customers who look for the ideal mix of bold design, exciting performance, and top-tier luxury.

Battery, Charging & Variants
Despite its grand size and opulence, the BMW i7 offers an impressive WLTP-certified range of up to 603 km between charges. In India, it is sold in two variants: the eDrive50 M Sport and the high-performance M70 xDrive. Both models use a large 101.7 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. To manage this massive battery, the i7 supports fast DC charging at up to 195 kW, allowing you to replenish the battery from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in just 34 minutes.
