In January 2026, Mahindra started the new year on a strong note, with the Scorpio remaining the top-selling model in its line-up while the Thar inches closer in popularity. The company ranked third on the new car sales chart, just behind Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors, and sold 63,510 cars, which is 12,851 units more than the same month last year, showing an impressive 25% year-on-year growth in the first month of 2026.

The company is seeing strong traction with its Scorpio series, which includes the first-gen Classic and the second-generation N. Together, the Scorpio models contributed 15,542 units to the brand’s sales, compared to January 2025 when 15,442 units were sold, showing a flat sales performance with just 1% growth. Following closely, the Thar series, comprising the regular 3-door and Roxx 5-door off-road-focused models, delivered 13,418 units, marking a 78% year-on-year growth over 7,557 units in the same period last year.

Next on the sales chart was the Bolero, which delivered 11,841 units, compared to 8,682 units in January 2025, reflecting a solid 36% growth. These numbers show that Mahindra continues to maintain a strong presence in the SUV segment, with each model marked by consistent performance and close behind its competitors, demonstrating the company’s ability to balance new launches with sustained brand’s sales momentum.

Strong Start for Electric and Facelifted Models

In January 2026, Mahindra began the first month of sales for the XUV 7XO, the facelifted version of the XUV 7OO. The new model delivered 10,133 units, compared to 8,399 units sold in January 2025, and the company received over 93,000 bookings for this family SUV. The XUV 3XO registered 8,845 units, up 5% growth from the same month last year (8,454 units), showing that demand for off-road SUVs remains strong even as the market evolves. Meanwhile, the XUV 400 electric model saw a 49% decline, dropping from 288 units to 146 units, highlighting some challenges in the electric segment.

The Born Electric range still showed impressive growth, though volumes remained low. The XEV 9e registered 1,945 units, marking a 71% year-on-year growth compared to 1,137 units in January 2025, while BE 6 sales stood at 1,028 units, up 47% from 700 units. The XEV 9s made its debut on the sales chart, recording 612 units, indicating that Mahindra’s electric portfolio is slowly gaining traction and setting the stage for future growth.
