With the arrival of the fourth generation model in late 2024, the Carnival nameplate took a significant price jump in India, and Compared to its predecessor, the price nearly doubled, strengthening its upmarket appeal, richer cabin, and longer features list. From what I’ve observed, the highlight is the Kia Carnival petrol hybrid version that combines a 1.6L petrol mill with a 54 kW electric motor, developing a combined 242 hp and 367 Nm of torque for smooth performance. It is sold via the CKD route in a fully-loaded Limousine trim, costing around Rs. 59.50 lakh ex-showroom.

    Engine Options and Hybrid Expansion

An exclusive report suggests that the Carnival’s range is set to be expanded with the addition of a petrol variant, already offered in international markets and likely to be priced more aggressively than the existing oil burner. Globally, the MPV comes with two petrol, one diesel, and a petrol hybrid option elsewhere, giving buyers flexibility. For India, under the hood will be a 1.6L turbocharged hybrid setup developing a combined 242 hp and 367 Nm of torque, supported by a 54 kW electric motor integrated into a full parallel hybrid system.

    Kia Carnival

At the same time, the Kia Carnival still derives power from a familiar 2.2L four-cylinder diesel engine producing a maximum power output of 193 PS and 441 Nm of peak torque. From my experience, this setup feels strong and dependable in daily driving. Power is sent through a six-speed automatic transmission, and it will also feature three-level regenerative braking, balancing performance with efficiency.

    Interior and Features

The Kia Carnival hybrid version is retailed in multiple trims internationally, with figures indicating a fuel economy of up to 14.5 kmpl. In India, it may stick with a single full-spec trim. On the equipment front, the exterior details include 19-inch alloy wheels with gloss black finish, Dark Edition styling accents, LED projector headlamps, tail lamps, and dual sunroofs, giving it a premium look.

Inside, the features list comprise powered sliding rear doors, a smart power tailgate, heated steering wheel, household-style power outlets, and integrated sunshades for the second and third rows. The dashboard feature twin 12.3-inch panoramic displays with navigation and connected services, an 11-inch head-up display, Bose premium sound system, and an in-cabin camera with intercom function, making the Carnival feel truly modern and well-equipped for families.

    Safety and Assistance Technology

The Kia Carnival in foreign markets comes packed with advanced driver-assistance systems that include autonomous emergency braking with junction detection, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-keeping assistance, highway driving assist, parking collision avoidance, and a full surround-view monitor, collectively positioning the hybrid Carnival as one of the most feature-rich MPVs on the market. From my experience, these features make driving in traffic or on long trips feel safer and far more confident, giving the Carnival an edge in technology and family-friendly safety.
