In January 2026, the top 10 scooters sales charts in India showed how the market has clearly turned in a new year, with both petrol and electric models continuing to dominate the scooter space in a big way. From my close tracking of the month-by-month numbers, it was no surprise that Honda once again retained its leading status as market leader, as the Activa led ahead of Jupiter, Access, and iQube, proving why it remains the first choice for many buyers.
The brand posted a massive 2,71,924 units, recording a 63 per cent year-on-year jump over 1,66,739 units from last calendar year, a huge performance that stood one step out in the Market and reflected how consumer demand continues to evolve across both traditional and modern mobility options.
Market Momentum Shift
The second place this time clearly went to Jupiter, which registered 1,29,744 units with a healthy 20 per cent growth when compared to 1,07,847 units in January 2025, showing how demand has steadily improved year-on-year. Close behind in third position, Suzuki Access clocked a strong domestic tally of 69,042 units, improving 26 per cent from last year’s 54,587, which reflects consistent buyer trust during the same period.

The fifth position belonged to the sporty Ntorq, delivering 36,596 units, up 54 per cent from 23,795 last year, and from my experience tracking the segment, this sharp rise shows how performance-focused scooters are gaining real traction in today’s evolving market.

The electrified segment’s popularity consolidated further as Rizta from Ather Energy reached 20,155 units, jumping 68 per cent year-on-year, showing the rapid shift toward electric models like iQube. The Yamaha RayZR rounded out the list at 19,815 units, growing 30 per cent, and from my experience tracking scooters, the continued supremacy of trusted names such as Activa and Jupiter, long led by steady demand, remains one of the key highlights. With rising competition over the course of this calendar year, I expect even sharper growth across the market.
