The Austria-based two-wheeler brand KTM in India sold a total of 16,411 units last month, including exports in the Indian market. These numbers show the brand’s growing popularity and strong presence among riders.
KTM India Sees Record Sales Surge in 2026
The company in India started 2026 strongly, with sales surpassing 16k units in the first month of the new year. In Jan, it registered overall volumes of 16,411, which includes both domestic numbers and exports. This marks an exceptional YoY growth of 143.70 percent, compared to a total of 6,734 units in Jan 2025.
Industry insiders and analysts highlight GST 2.0 as one of the foremost contributors to this rise, as the prices of bikes with engine capacity below 350cc were slashed, making them more affordable and accessible to buyers. From my experience, such numbers reflect not just strong planning but also how smart policy changes can directly influence market demand.

390 Range and Entry-Level Updates
The company’s 390 range of motorcycles, including RC, Duke, and Adventure, sold a total of 1,154 units in Jan 2026, up from 362 units retailed in Jan 2025. The 390cc bikes became more expensive after the rollout of GST 2.0 in Sep 2025 due to increased tax rate and price hike, yet the YoY sales still grew by 218 percent. This shows how resilient the brand is, even when bikes face price adjustments, and highlights the continuing appetite for performance motorcycles in the Indian market.
The KTM 390 range consists of four adventure models: 390 Adventure X, 390 Adventure, 390 Adventure R, and 390 Enduro R, all bikes locally manufactured in India by Bajaj Auto at the Chakan production facility in Pune. They are priced between Rs 3.26-3.97 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the Indian market. Earlier, the company also retailed Duke 125 and RC 125, but these entry-level motorcycles were discontinued in April 2025 due to poor sales. They have now been replaced by Duke 160 and RC 160 as the brand’s base models in the domestic market, keeping the lineup fresh and competitive.
