With the launched of the new-generation Mercedes-Benz V-Class in India, Mercedes-Benz is clearly bringing its luxury panel van back to the market in a way that feels both bold and refined. What stands out to me is how it arrives only in an extra long wheelbase configuration, a smart move that focuses on comfort and presence rather than variety. The van is priced at ₹1.4 crore (ex-showroom, introductory), which places this latest-gen model firmly in the premium space.

It has been on sale globally since 2023, while the previous-gen model was available between 2019 and 2022, showing a clear evolution in design and purpose. Inside, the focus shifts to multiple seating configurations, a truly luxurious rear seat experience, and what genuinely feels like acres of space, especially for long journeys where comfort matters most.

    Commanding Size Meets Striking Style

The extended wheelbase configuration of the new Mercedes-Benz V-Class immediately highlights its scale, and from my experience around premium movers, it genuinely feels massive the moment you see it in person. It measures 5,370 mm in length, 1,928 in width, 2,249 with mirrors, and 1,909 in height, while the wheelbase stands at 3,430, making it clearly longer than the MG Comet. These bold proportions give this people carrier a strong presence, and the smart, slightly boxy design neatly maximises space without losing elegance.

The India-spec version in AMG Line trim further elevates the look as it brings a signature star-studded grille with an illuminated surround, and also comes equipped with sharp multi-beam headlamps, sportier bumpers, stylish two-tone 18-inch alloy wheels, plus electrically operable sliding doors that make access to the rear remarkably easy.

    Comfort, Technology and Practical Luxury

The extended wheelbase of the Mercedes-Benz V-Class truly transforms how the cabin feels. It allows for large windows, though they do not open, and there is no sunroof, panoramic or otherwise, which actually enhances the quiet feel inside. With window blinds adding a real sense of privacy, the environment feels carefully intended for absolute comfort. The space is generous, and the layout supports multiple seating configurations, letting buyers choose a four-seater or six-seater version with seats either forward facing each other or in a more practical layout, with the third row also getting attention to comfort.

The front seats raise the bar with heating, cooling, ventilation, and even massaging functions, along with extendable leg support and under-thigh cushioning. In my experience, these small details make long drives far more relaxing. The seats are upholstered in leather, and AMG badging is clearly visible inside, adding a subtle touch of sportiness. You also get electronic adjustment, making it easy to find the right driving position without effort.

On the feature front, the new EWB comes fully equipped with three-zone climate control, 64-colour ambient lighting, USB and wireless charging, plus a 15-speaker Burmester sound system that fills the cabin beautifully. The dual 12.3-inch screens for the digital console and infotainment, along with a trackpad in the centre, make interaction smooth and modern. There are lots of storage solutions, including cupholders and coat hooks, thoughtfully placed across the cabin, ensuring everyday usability matches its luxurious experience and overall comfort.

    Cutting-Edge Safety Features

The Mercedes-Benz V-Class brings a range of safety tech that ensures peace of mind for drivers and passengers. It comprises seven airbags, ISOFIX anchorages, traffic-sign and driver-attention assists, along with 360-degree view cameras, an electronic parking brake, and more. The van also comes with adaptive cruise control, collision warning, brake assist, and a tyre pressure monitoring system, making it a highly protective system on the road. In my experience, these features not only boost confidence but make driving in city traffic or long journeys far less stressful.

    Powerful and Efficient Engines

The Mercedes-Benz V-Class EWB is new and available with both petrol and diesel engines. The V300 petrol draws power from a 2.0-litre turbocharged motor, which churns out 228 bhp, plus another 20 bhp from the mild-hybrid technology. On the diesel side, the V300 gets a 2.0-litre diesel, also with mild-hybrid tech, which develops 234 bhp. Both engines are paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission, delivering smooth power and effortless control whether in city traffic or on highways.

    Competitive Segment and Versatile Options

The new V-Class arrives in a highly competitive segment with a few capable options. It competes with the Kia Carnival, MG M9, Toyota Vellfire, and Lexus LM, yet the V-Class fits right in the middle in terms of space, comfort, and luxury. From my perspective, this balance makes it ideal for buyers looking for a premium van that combines safety, performance, and modern features without compromise.
