In India, I recently observed that Mercedes-Benz posted 19,007 units in 2025, which is slightly lower than the 19,565 units it managed in the previous calendar year; despite this, the brand still enters the list of top 5 markets globally, showing consistent strength and appeal among luxury car buyers.

From January to December 2025, Mercedes-Benz in India recorded total deliveries of 19,007 units, which is slightly lower than the 19,565 units it managed in the previous calendar year; yet, the slight volume dip did not affect the luxury carmaker’s best-ever annual performance, with revenue representing a growing contribution from high-value models and a premium range, showing firsthand how the brand continues to impress discerning buyers.

    Luxury Portfolio

In India, the S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach, and AMG derivatives form a range-topping portfolio that grew 11 per cent year-on-year and accounted for 25 per cent of overall sales; this consistent demand for flagship luxury products from the German auto major shows how consumers continue to gravitate towards exclusivity, bespoke features, and high-performance offerings, giving a firsthand view of the brand’s strong appeal and market presence.

The AMG performance division delivered an especially strong showing in CY2025, registering 34 per cent year-on-year growth; this surge points the finger towards a growing appetite for high-performance luxury cars in the country, with AMG models comprising sedans, SUVs, and the legendary G-Class, luring aspirational buyers who are craving performance, giving a firsthand view of the brand’s unmatched excitement and prestige.

    Electric Ambition

The Mercedes-Benz battery electric vehicle (BEV) portfolio maintained an upward trajectory in 2025, recording 12 per cent year-on-year growth; BEVs now account for 20 per cent of top-end sales in India, with 70 sold belonged to the segment priced between Rs. 1.25 crore and Rs. 3.1 crore, and the lineup includes the EQS SUV, EQS Sedan, Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV, and the all-electric G580, showing firsthand how the brand is pushing the limits of luxury electric mobility.

Among individual models, the long wheelbase E-Class continued its dominance, retaining its position as India’s most desired and highest-selling luxury car; strong brand loyalty and rear-seat-focused features ensured it consistently outperformed its segment rivals, while on the electric front, the EQS SUV emerged as Mercedes-Benz’s top BEV in the market, showing firsthand how innovation and prestige go hand in hand.

    Segment Performance

In CY2025, the segments including entry-level, core, and top-end models contributed 13, 62, and 25 per cent respectively to overall sales; sedans were led by the C-Class, LWB E-Class, S-Class, and Mercedes-Maybach, while SUVs delivered strong volumes, buoyed by the GLA, GLC, GLE, GLS, Mercedes-Maybach GLS, and the AMG G63, showing firsthand how Mercedes-Benz balances popularity across both luxury segments.

The entry-level luxury portfolio declined by 20 per cent year-on-year, reducing its share to 13; meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz India confirmed plans to launch 12 new products this year, including the highly desirable Mercedes-Maybach GLS SUV, which will be the first market outside the USA to start local production, along with the CLA electric sedan set to debut the MB.OS operating system, highlighting the brand’s strategic expansion and focus on luxury innovation.

The brand announced local production of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS at its Pune facility, making India the first market outside the United States to manufacture this popular luxury SUV; the strategy builds on a solid performance in calendar year 2025, which led India to entering the list of top 5 markets, showing firsthand how Mercedes-Benz strengthens both production capabilities and market presence.
