    Launch Timeline and Product Strategy

Great news for the market: Nissan India has officially confirmed the debut of its new MPV, the Gravite, in the Indian market on February 17. This comes after a slight delay, as this upcoming model was supposed to make its market entry back on January 21, but the event was postponed for unknown reasons. It’s important to mention this isn’t an isolated case; the same happened with their new mid-size SUV, the Tekton, which was supposed to be unveiled today.

This move is a clear sign of the Japanese automaker’s strategic plans to broaden its product lineup. Until now, Nissan has only been represented in one segment by the Magnite. The introduction of the Gravite kicks off a rapid expansion. Subsequent models from the brand will be launched shortly after, with only a few months separating their releases. After the Gravite, the Tekton will follow, and a seven-seater SUV is expected to debut in 2027.

    Design and Interior Prospects

While the complete design has yet to be fully revealed, the brand has given us a solid glimpse of the Gravite’s design. This vehicle displays a noticeably new and robust look that reflects the brand’s updated design philosophy. It highlights a distinctive front fascia with a new grille featuring the Nissan logo, accentuated by chrome detailing. The design also includes a fresh headlamp arrangement, while a cool feature resembling a hood scoop on the bonnet adds to its muscular appearance.

Moving inside, specific Details about the interior remain largely undisclosed. However, there’s a good chance this MPV will incorporate entirely new interior components, using various materials for the dashboard to create a modern feel. It may also share certain characteristics with its cousin, the Tiber. Furthermore, the MPV is widely expected to offer a three-row seating layout, allowing for flexible configurations of 5, 6, or 7 seats to suit different family needs.

    Expected Features and Powertrain

Under the hood, the upcoming Nissan Gravite MPV is expected to be equipped with a familiar yet practical 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 72 hp and 96 Nm. This unit will likely be available with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT transmission, making it very similar to the Triber. Although Nissan might enhance the engine and transmission tuning for better drivability, the core mechanical structure is expected to remain consistent.

Inside, the expected feature list will likely consist of modern essentials to enhance daily usability. We’re looking at a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster for the driver and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with compatibility for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. For convenience, a wireless charging unit and cool storage located in the center console are anticipated. Furthermore, practicality is boosted by second-row seats that can slide and recline, offering flexible cabin space.
