The delivery of the Tata Sierra SUV has started today, as customers can now take their vehicles home, officially entering the delivery phase after being launched in November 2025; from my experience tracking new SUV rollouts by Tata, this phase is when excitement becomes real ownership for the Sierra.

From what I’ve seen covering launches, deliveries matter more than announcements, and today, 15 January 2025, they have officially commenced for the Sierra SUV in the Indian market, where Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles had launched the vehicle in November 2025; backed by Tata Motors, the SUV made an impressively strong start with 70,000 bookings on day one, garnered at a competitive starting price of Rs 11.49 ex-showroom, and based on early details I’ve tracked, this rollout shows why Passenger Vehicles strategies are paying off for Tata.

    Design with a Modern Edge

From my hands-on time reviewing SUVs, what stands out first is how the design of the Tata Sierra is characterized by a confident boxy shape, clearly drawing inspiration from the earlier model while blending modern features that suit today’s SUV buyers; the upright stance is further accentuated by a significant amount of gloss-black accents, neatly linking the LED headlights and daytime running lights to the brand logo and bold Sierra label, while details like the skid plate and dual fog lights are seamlessly incorporated into the front bumper, giving the whole look a solid yet refined road presence.

    Interior & Features

The premium interior of the Tata Sierra includes three dashboard displays, one for the driver and two for infotainment, offering smooth content sharing. The four-spoke steering wheel borrowed from the Tata Curvv comes with an illuminated Tata emblem and touch-sensitive controls, while the 12-speaker JBL audio system with the SonicShaft soundbar ensures rich sound. Comfort is boosted with dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, powered front seats, rear sunshades, soft-touch materials, a floating armrest, and the largest panoramic sunroof in India, alongside a wireless charging dock, giving a modern and luxurious touch to the interior and its features.

    Safety Features

The Tata Sierra is equipped with advanced safety capabilities, including a Level 2 ADAS system with an electronic parking brake, 360-degree camera, dual blind spot monitoring, and an electronic stability program (ESP) with 21 functions. It also comes fitted with essential safety features such as six airbags, seatbelt anchor pretensioners, Isofix child safety, and 3-point ELR seat belts for all passengers, making it a well-rounded SUV in terms of protection.

    Powertrain

The Tata Sierra offers a versatile engine lineup, starting with the petrol variant that features a brand-new 1.5-litre 4-cylinder direct-injection turbocharged engine, producing 160 hp and 255 Nm torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission from AISIN. There’s also a naturally aspirated option generating 106 hp and 145 Nm torque, using an Atkinson cycle for improved efficiency, available with either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The diesel version comes with an established 1.5-litre engine producing 118 hp, offering 260 Nm with 6-speed manual and 280 Nm with 6-speed automatic transmission choices, making the Tata Sierra flexible and powerful for diverse driving needs.
