Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) has long been ruling the country’s scooter segment with its ever-popular, family-format Activa, bagging consistent sales volumes. Now, to further boost its popular offering’s appeal, the brand is unveiling a special X-Edition of the Activa 125. This strategic move clearly aims to energize the lineup, and in my view, it signals exciting potential for models like the Dio, which has always held its own as a vibrant and popular choice in Honda’s stable.
Honda Dio 125 X-Edition: A Youth-Centric Marvel
Honda has just revealed a new special edition aimed squarely at young riders, called the Dio 125 X-Edition. Based on my experience, these cosmetic changes and an all-new colourway aren’t just for show—they’re a direct move to further amplify the scooter’s youthfulness. While the prices are not revealed yet, this X-Edition is based on the loaded top-spec H-Smart variant, meaning it gets all the bells and whistles you’d expect. This model cleverly packs visual flair to stand out.
It makes perfect sense for the company. The Dio is already Honda’s second best-selling scooter in India, a sporty model whose format and design naturally appeals to young buyers. The brand offers the Dio in both 110cc and 125cc engine options, with this larger 125cc version always positioned as the more premium choice. This special offering feels like a strategic play to strengthen that appeal for the 125 specifically.

Design, Price, and Competition
Looking at the official details, the new colourway for the Honda Dio 125 X-Edition is genuinely striking. It’s called Pearl Siren Blue and Pearl Deep Ground Gray. The base colour is a rich dark blue, smartly contrasted with gray elements on the running board, front apron, side body panels, and grab rails. For that perfect sporty contrast, it also gets red painted wheels and some swanky graphics, which in my opinion really make the whole looks more interesting.
Now, about what matters on the showroom floor. This special edition is based on the H-Smart variant and is expected to be priced closely to it. That variant costs Rs 91,683 (Ex-sh). It’s worth noting the other colours offered on the standard model too, like Mat Marvel Blue Metallic with gold accents, Imperial Red, Pearl Sports Yellow, Pearl Igneous Black, and another version of Pearl Deep Ground Gray with an Emblem or Stripe, all with Black wheels. This gives buyers a wide range, but the new X-Edition clearly stands out from the others.

Under the Skin and On the Dash
Powering the Honda Dio 125 X-Edition is the familiar but reliable same 123.92cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, SOHC, 2V/cyl engine. It’s perfectly capable of delivering around 8.2 bhp and 10.5 Nm of torque, which is sent to the rear wheel via a smooth CVT gearbox. This powertrain has always been a strong point for city commuting. As for its Launch, that’s likely to happen in the coming days or weeks.
Features are concerned, this special model gets all the high-end equipment from the H-Smart variant it’s based on. The most notable ones include stylish alloy wheels, a front disc brake for better stopping power, modern LED lighting, and a crisp fully-digital TFT instrument cluster. It’s also quite tech-savvy, offering Bluetooth connectivity for turn-by-turn navigation and connected features, a smart key with a keyless go function, and a USB Type-C port for charging, among others. From my experience, this package makes it one of the most feature-rich offerings in its segment.
