In the competitive Indian market for family cars, the new affordable, seven-seater MPV—the Nissan Gravite—steps in, directly competing with its close platform sibling, the Renault Triber.
Launch Timeline and Product Strategy
Nissan India has confirmed the launch of the Nissan Gravite, a new and crucial seven-seater MPV for the Indian market. This vehicle was originally supposed to be introduced around January 21, but that event was moved. The brand announced its December 2025 arrival soon after, making it the first product launched as a key part of their plan to expand their presence in the country.
Based on the CMF-A+ platform, this Renault Triber rival enters a new segment for the automaker. Its introduction will be followed by the Tekton SUV—teased on multiple occasions—with plans for ending 2026 with another seven-seater SUV. Presently, the only model representing the brand in the mass market is the Magnite, highlighting how important the Gravite’s success is for Nissan’s future in India.
Design Preview and Expected Features
The exact details of the interior have not yet been disclosed, but we can expect the Nissan Gravite MPV to share many practical features with its sibling, the Triber model. Based on its segment, it is expected to offer a versatile three-row seating arrangement, allowing for flexible configurations of 5, 6, or 7 seats. The list of anticipated features is promising and includes modern tech like a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. For convenience, it should also get a wireless charging pad, cool storage in the center console, and second-row seats that can slide and recline.

While the full design hasn’t been fully revealed, the brand has provided a tantalizing preview. The vehicle’s appearance brings fresh features in sync with the automaker’s design language seen in the international market. Additionally, the Gravite includes a modern sleek design for the headlamp setup and a sporty hood scoop-like element on the bonnet, giving it a robust, muscular look that should help it stand out.
Expected Powertrain and Performance
Based on what we’ve seen from its platform sibling, the upcoming Nissan Gravite MPV is widely expected to use a familiar yet efficient 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. This unit typically delivers outputs in the region of 72 hp and 96 Nm of torque. Customers can expect the same options for a 5-speed manual or an AMT transmission, making its gearbox setup very similar to the Triber model. While Nissan is likely to tune the engine and transmission for better drivability specific to this MPV, the essential core mechanical setup is anticipated to remain largely unchanged, prioritizing proven reliability and affordability.
